GGC biochemistry graduate learned how to roll with the changes

Bachelor of Science in Biology, biochemistry concentration

Nolberto Sanchez credits his professors for guiding him through the most challenging parts of his journey at GGC.

“They have taught me far beyond the scope of academia,” Sanchez said. “I can’t put it into words, but as the years continue, I will try to express my gratitude and honor them by leaving those I encounter better than when I met them, as they have all done with me.”

Andre Cross’ academic journey began at a different college. He left that experience lacking confidence as a student and was uncertain about his future.

Then he enrolled at GGC.

During her college experience, Niecia Say said she felt overwhelmed at times. She said her father’s voice always told her to stick it out. Say also gained confidence as a resident assistant.

“I discovered leadership skills I never knew I had. I found joy in mentoring residents, helping them navigate college life and sharing the resources I had found helpful.”

GGC education graduate found her calling

Bachelor of Science in Education

Sumayyah Yoonas put her dreams of being a doctor on hold to raise the couple’s three children. After 14 years, it was time. Then the pandemic hit.

“That first semester tested every ounce of my resolve,” she said.

Amazingly, the pandemic that threatened to derail her education led her to her true calling. From medical aspirations to teaching, Yoonas switched gears to enroll in GGC’s School of Education (SOE).
